9. Guy Irven (Bohnstedt) / M, bn: 1896, Houston, Missouri / (see 3-3-8400 ↓ )*1. For decades we had believed that this man's name was "Ludewier". However, a recent analysis of the available evidence has led us to conclude that his name was in fact "Ludwig"
*2. Anna (Poff) Bohnstedt died soon after the birth of her fourth child who also died young, possibly stillborn. It's possible that Anna died during delivery, or soon after. The baby was buried with Anna, and as far as we known, was unnamed, strongly suggesting that both mother and child died during delivery.
*3. Clara had a twin brother, Clarence. Clara and Clarence were both born in 1854 in Crawford Illinois. Their parents were Allen and Sarah (Williams) Jenkins. Before her marriage to Ludwig Bohnstedt, Clara was married to Elisha Hiers.
*4. Dates for George Clinton Bohnstedt's birth differ between different sources; his draft registration record says 1878. However, his death certificate says he was born in 1876. George Clinton's mother, Anna (Poff) Bohnstedt, died when she was 23 years old in 1878. She may have died during childbirth. I believe that Clint was born in 1876.

*2. From documentary evidence it appears that Ann (or Anna) later had two children fathered by Clint's brother Charles. It is unclear if Clint and Ann were divorced and then Ann remarried to Charles, or whether there were other circumstances.
*3. A death certificate states that Anna's death in June 1917 was a suicide, from poisoning by carbolic acid.
*4. David Bohnstedt was also previously listed in a separate table (4-8-3200, CD-ROM & 4-9-1140, Printed edition). That information has now been merged into this table.
*5. A 1940 census record indicates David living in Picher Oklahoma with his "wife", Clara. So far no marriage record has been found for these two. This Clara seems to be Bertha Clara Rudd. Other records suggest that Bertha was married to a man named John William Weitz, but were divorced in 1934. David was 28 years old at the time. If true, Bertha Clara was later reunited with Weitz because a newspaper article about Weitz being killed after a poker game mentions his wife Bertha and children. When Bertha Clara died she was buried with Weitz. The family table number for Clara Bohnstedt was 4-9-1130 in the 1998 printed edition. The table number was changed to 4-8-3190 in the CD-ROM edition. Information for Clara Bohnstedt was finally transferred to table 3-3-8100 (this table); the family of George Clinton Bohnstedt, the wife of David E. *2. When James Lee Bohnstedt and his wife, Esther (Gregory) Bohnstedt divorced, she took her son, James Edward with her, who could not have been more than 3-4 years old at the time. According to anecdotal family history, Esther was remarried, to a man with the last name of McCarty. From that time James Edward grew up with the McCarty family name, and the Bohnstedt name was not carried forward with his line. However, I was told by James and Jantia Bohnstedt that James Edward had at least two children; Christopher Allen, and Shane Marcus. I am not sure what family name they grew up with.
