1.  A 1900 Wyoming census record, source G5, obtained by Charles F. Bohnstedt indicates that "Frederick" was living with his daughter, Amanda in 1900 in Wyoming.
*2.  Frederick appears in a 1900 census, living with his youngest son, Christian, in the household of his daughter Amanda Miller.  Ernestine is not enumerated in the household with the rest of the family.  She may have died before 1900 (she would have been 66 years old in 1900), or she and Frederick may have separated.
*3.  An 1860 census for Clark County Illinois, York township, listed a "Sam" in Frederick Bohnstedt's house
*4.  Sam appears in an 1860 census, within a logical chronological sequence with the other children, suggesting that he was the natural child of Frederick and Annie (King) Bohnstedt, and not adopted.  Since he does not appear in the 1870 census it is possible that Sam had died before 1870.
*5.  Some sources give Bell's last name as Eckley, while other sources give it as Lyman.
*6.  In an 1880 census for Richland County Illinois, Olney Township in which this family is described, the youngest child listed above is not listed in the household, suggesting that he died young.

William Henry Bohnstedt *1 / (see 3-3-2000 ↑ )

M, bn: 1857, Illinois / p: Railroad engineer (driver) / d: 1936, Evanston, Wyoming / bd: State Hospital Cemetery, Evanston, Wyoming // m1: 1885, Fairbanks, Wyoming, to Louisa Ford / bn: c 1869, Guernsey, Wyoming / d: 1893, Pueblo Colorado [?] / dv: 1892 // m2: 1893, May 10, Denver, Colorado, to Katherine Joy / bn: 1867, Nebraska / d: 1940, Portland Oregon / dv: 1901

Children: *2
m1:
1. Edward Daniel (Bohnstedt) / M, bn: 1886, Denver, Colorado / (see
3-3-2002)
2. Dora C. (Bohnstedt) / F, bn: 1891, Colorado / d: 1907, May 18, Colorado / bd: Roselawn Cemetery, Pueblo, Colorado

*1. Previous research had indicated that the ancestor of this line was named Henry Thomas Bohnstedt. However, during subsequent research by Charles F. Bohnstedt and others found that Henry Thomas Bohnstedt was an alias used by William Bohnstedt in his role as a union organizer in the railroad industry. Apparently he also used the alias Henry T. Thomas.
*2. William's second wife, Katherine, brought 3 children into the family from her previous marriage to Jasper H. Balding: Maud, born 1887, Ella, born 1888, and Edna, born in 1889, all born in Colorado. But in 1900 census records, these three children appear to be listed as Bohnstedt children.  After her marriage to William Henry Bohnstedt ended in divorce in 1901, Katherine married again in 1906 to Charles Phillip Slaymaker.

*1. Amanda's grave marker in Prairie Rest Cemetery, Guernsey, Wyoming, has a year of birth of 1857.  This is incorrect. Census records from 1860 and 1870 places her year of birth in or about 1859, not 1857.  The explanation may be in Amanda's marriage to Henry Miller in 1874.  Amanda would have been about 15 years old.  Since her mother was deceased and her father was back in Illinois, there were no parents to approve the marriage.  But if Amanda lied about her age on the marriage records, and said she was born in 1857, county officials would have believed she was about 17-18 years old. Later census records from 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930, and 1940 place Amanda's year of birth at about 1857.  Over time this year of birth apparently became fact and was enshrined on her tombstone.
*2. Before her marriage to Joseph Leslie Miller Myrtle was married to Joseph's cousin, Seth Frederick Gambell.
